What Exactly is UV-Resistant Casting Resin?
The use of casting resin is a method of plastic casting where a mold is filled with a liquid synthetic resin, which then hardens through a hardener amine. It is used for treating all types of tables. The synthetic resin for table tops can be considered a specific type of epoxy resin optimized for this use. During the setting process, the liquid monomer polymerizes into the polymer and thus hardens into a solid. Sounds a bit complicated, but it simply means that the casting resin hardens and protects the table against damage and moisture. Plastics discolor in UV light. The table top epoxy casting resin from Pourpoxy has a high UV resistance, allowing it to maintain its color for a very long time without yellowing.
Different Forms of Casting Resin.
Casting resin is used for many applications. The casting resins consist of an A component and a B component. Component A is the casting resin, and component B is the hardener.

How to Use UV-Resistant Table Top Epoxy Casting Resin.
Now that you know what casting resin actually is, we need to consider how to use it. Once you’re accustomed to the mixing method, you can proceed with using the table top casting resin. Below, we’ve listed the main steps for our Table Top Epoxy Casting Resin for you.
(Tip: Prime the table by mixing a small amount of epoxy and rolling it over the entire table. This seals the table. As a result, the epoxy won’t soak into the table during the full casting.)
Step by Step for Your Casting Resin Table Top:
- For casting a table top, it’s important to set the top completely level. The table top should also be well sanded to at least 240 grit. Remember to use the necessary protection when working with epoxy.
- After thoroughly mixing the GE table top casting resin, pour the entire contents into a new mixing container and mix the mixture intensively again. After this, you can slowly pour the contents over the object of your choice. Spread the epoxy over the entire object with a roller. You can also choose to use another technique as shown below.
- If some bubbles appear, the art is to remove them as quickly as possible. Use the Pourpoxy bubble pop spray to pop the bubbles as soon as they rise to the surface. This ensures a professional finish. You can also gently heat the resin with a gas torch to remove the bubbles. If you have one, use a heat gun to gently warm the resin.
- After you have cast the tabletop and removed the unwanted bubbles, you need to let the resin cure. Make sure you really take the time for this. Try to keep your casting object on a flat surface.
With the Tabletop epoxy casting resin, a minimum curing time of 5 days is recommended before using the table. It is possible to apply another layer after 24 hours without sanding again to correct any imperfections.
Proportions by weight are =
